Marijuana DeAddiction Treatment Helps You Say No

marijuana De addiction treatmentAdmitting having a drug problem is a big step towards recovery. The next big step is seeking assistance. Marijuana consumption over time results in physical dependence on the drug. The user experiences physical discomfort within a certain time from its last consumption. This results in withdrawal symptoms triggering a drug re-use. With time, marijuana dependence can further lead to increased tolerance, and need greater concentration or amount of drug to enjoy the same effect. The combined dependence and tolerance causes addiction.

As per a survey, admission into publicly funded treatment due to marijuana addiction is only second to alcohol. Hence its treatment and rehabilitation should be taken seriously. Marijuana rehabilitation centres provide specific programs – medical as well as psychotherapy, to help address the addiction. The most common are residential or inpatient rehabilitation programs and outpatient programs. They can be customised to meet individual needs.

Residential rehabilitation programs provide live-in facility and are usually available for 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. A three-month program is believed to have greater success with staying sober. Residential rehabilitation programs are considered more effective due to the many benefits they offer.

  • They provide a round-the-clock direct supervision. It also provides supplementary therapies like behavioural therapy, meditation, group or individual counseling, etc., for positive engagement and encourages lifestyle changes
  • Rehabilitation centre provides constant professional medical assistance. They continuously monitor the progress of the physical, emotional and mental health of the patient to fine tune the therapy
  • Rehabilitation centres restrict interaction with the outside world thereby restricting access to marijuana. This is very critical in initial stages of treatment
  • It provides access to psychological and emotional support to the addict which prevents relapse episodes

Outpatient rehabilitation programs allow a patient to receive treatment while continuing to stay at home. The program includes combined treatment plan of therapy and counselling sessions as well as partial hospitalisation, if required. However, while the outpatient rehabilitation program provides ease and convenience, it also leaves an addict vulnerable to temptation.

Rehabilitation centres are a most effective way to break free from addiction. They focus on helping an individual to identify triggers for marijuana consumption, deal with underlying trauma or reason and learn coping mechanisms, to enable him / her to #SayNo to addiction and re-gain control of his / her life.
