At Ankitha Residents will be under the supervision of special educator, counselor, Psychiatric Social Worker, Psychiatrist and Physician. They will receive needed support in activities of daily living from ‘Caretakers’ specially trained for these heaven’s very special Children. Residents under the professional care will be trained in activities of daily living like feeding, dressing, toilet training & social skills like playing, interacting with others & etc. They will also be given opportunity for education & vocational training to better the chances for employability. Residents will also be taken on regular picnics / outings to places of interest and significance.
ANKITHA conceptualizes to address the issues of Mentally Retarded at different levels.
- Family Concern: Mental Retardation in a family set up is one of the linked issues needing solution. Family is pulled between the inevitable disability associated due to Mental Retardation and the emotion associated with the individual with disability. ANKITHA while addressing this issue wishes to share its professional responsibility and lessen the burden & pressure of the family.
- Humanistic Concern: As a part of civilized society & as a trusted organization in Mental Health Care, ANKITHA imperatively provides platform, opportunity, services and quality associated with these as it were for any other individual in society with or without disability.
- Normalization Concern: ANKITHA is designed & is coming up to function to provide environment as it would be for a normal persona with special areas concerning the disability and for Habilitation & Rehabilitation.
- Therapeutic Concern: ANKITHA residents will be Cared, Habilitated and Rehabilitated under the supervision of Special Educations, Psychologists, Psychiatric-Social Workers through various therapeutic activities & will also receive medical care by Psychiatrist, Physician & Physiotherapist.
