Neeraja is a novel scheme of rehabilitation technically called as assisted /supported employment.
Rehabilitation of the mentally disabled is a long drawn process it requires hard and painstaking efforts by all those involved in the process including person needing rehabilitation.
ation the illness most often not only masks the skills but also dries up the confidence level of the individual suffering and recovery from illness. At ADRUTHA taking this aspect seriously, gradually involves the persons recovering from illness into various activities which helps them learn or relearn the skills. The activities can be simple things like candle making, cover making to managing hotels, shops as in NEERAJA.
Supported employment
Employment /work serve as a vehicle for people with mental illness to move forward in the process of recovery. Work in regular community settings /otherwise helps to reduce social isolation, boredom and improve self confidence.
Employment alongside others who do not have disabilities is the best way for true integration but it has its own challenges and limitations. Cadabam’S has a unique NEERAJA where the rehabilitated residents are provided opportunity to work and explore the possibility of them independently getting employed in other organizations.
Supported education
Cadabam’S in its endeavour to help residents attain recovery has found work as fundamental component of rehabilitation and recovery and hence the Education which Fetches then Job. In this direction Cadabam’S recognizes
Helping individuals restart their post secondary education pursuits is desirable valid and viable option.
That encouraging adults with illness to enrol in and complete post secondary education helps them to be competitive in market.
That during their study they need regular assistance preparation and continued ongoing counselling.
That education (fulltime course/ part time course/ open school ) contribute to positive outcome such as a degree, marketable skills employment and self esteem.
